....         GOLD & METAL LEAFING FOR INTERIOR DECOR - COURSE DESCRIPTION     

During The Gold and Metal Leafing Course students are instructed in the following Gilding skills:

  • Flat Surface Gilding  - For Ceilings, Cabinets, Murals & Furniture

  • Ribbon Gilding - For Millwork and Furniture

  • Relief or ‘Tip’ Gilding  - For Millwork,  Art Frames and Furniture

  • Ornate Surface Gilding  For Millwork, Cornices, Art Frames etc

  • Antiquing, Distressing & Embellishing the Gilded Surface for walls, ceilings, millwork and furniture;

  • Introduction to artistic metals such as Painted and Variegated Leaf;
  • Treatment differences with Copper, Silver and Painted Leaf;
  • How to SELL the Gold.

Note:  For the 4 essential Gilding Styles listed above, only genuine 22 - 23.5 Karat Gold, Loose Leaf or Transfer Leaf is provided for use in instruction.

the academy of wall artistry is pleased to have been selected by the Architect of the Capitol, to train the U.S. Government craftsmen in the art of Gold Leafing & Gilding.  They have already begun work gilding the Capitol Building and the Supreme Court.
